Gone are the days of cotton t-shirts with hand-drawn logos and here to stay are sublimated artwork, design competitions and jersey trading. The start of the season marks the time when teams plan out their “brand” from head to toe. Teams ask themselves what they want to wear as they attempt to dominate the socks off their opponents. Will it be the full black jersey and shorts that emits a level of intimidation or the neon pink shorts and baby blue top that screams: “Our uniforms might be extremely girly but you are going to be watching a pink shorts fly by your face as I lay out for that disc and make you look silly”. Whatever your dream is – there’s someone out there willing to make it happen.
Today is the day. You wake up and you can feel it – the energy and that fleeting sensation in your stomach. You’ve worked hard all winter with long sessions in the gym, on the track, doing hills, lifting weights, attempting to eat healthy and talking the ultimate talk. Since you decided to tryout for a team for the 2012 season, ultimate has become all consuming. So now that the first day of tryouts has finally come you need to start thinking about the one thing that you’ve probably left to this point to consider about, to decide upon; a crucial element in your preparation for sheer domination – what-to-wear-to-tryouts.

Hello Ultimate fans and welcome to the first installment of Fashion Fridays. Now I know most of you are asking the question, a Fashion column on an Ultimate website? I am here to tell you that just because we are female athletes and we sweat, swear and occasionally grunt, doesn’t mean we can’t be fierce on the field as well as off. Let’s face it, Ultimate is a fashionable sport and the evolution of Ultimate style over the past few years has often been overlooked, until now.
